Industry first collaboration protects M Group Services’ people and the public

Project Brief

M Group Services Plant & Fleet Solutions (MGSPFS)  provide essential services to all operating businesses within M Group Services, the leading service provider for the energy, telecommunications, transport and water infrastructure in the UK and Ireland. MGSPFS is the fourth largest fleet in the UK with over 8,500 vehicles.

Health and safety is M Group Services’ number one priority. Having this many vehicles on the road with drivers under pressure to get to different locations and driving for extended periods, there is a risk of incidents. The business wanted to increase its understanding of road incidents and determine what action can be taken to prevent them happening in future.

Project Overview

A bespoke system was developed to meet M Group’s specification though a collaboration between Motormax, Brucom and Samsara. The solution protects drivers, clients and members of the public, improves efficiency, prevents incidents, reduces the risk of damage to equipment, and provides a training resource to help teams learn from previous incidents.

This industry-first collaboration detects risks and alerts drivers and managers alike to protect M Group Services’ people and the public from harm.

Motormax supply a live five-camera system, bespoke side detection with an audible left turn alarm and our exclusive Safetymax technology – a visual and spoken voice warning and a live five-camera system recording 360° around the HGV capturing footage from the vehicle journey and its operation. Motormax also supply a side detection and left turn alarm solution which contributes to FORS and DVS compliance. The solution includes a power distribution unit supplied by Brucom which delivers power safely to all components.

Samsara

The Motormax camera system is fully integrated with the Samsara cloud-based platform delivering a comprehensive, single use platform. The innovative system alerts M Group drivers to potential issues by displaying visual and spoken voice warning which are also reported remotely via the Samsara telematics connected operations cloud platform. This includes video footage so logistics controllers and transport managers are aware of the alert and can review footage for future learning and education.
