The Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS)

Construction Logistics and Community Safety (CLOCS)

Motormax is proud to be a CLOCS Champion

What is CLOCS?

Construction Logistics and Community Safety (CLOCS) was formed back in 2013 after a growing need for construction and fleet sectors to work together to improve safety standards within the sector. Bringing together best practice from a variety of codes and policies to provide one overarching industry standard,  and is the ultimate safety standard – beyond basic legal compliance.

At Motormax, we’re proud to support the organisation through our Champion status and we recognise their work as the gold-standard in safety practice. This designation means we’re committing to helping our customers become CLOCS compliant as well as spreading the word and advising our supply chain partners to become members. Improving vehicle, and in turn – road safety, through innovative solutions is at the heart of everything we do at Motormax.

Why should you become a CLOCS Champion?

Becoming a CLOCS Champion demonstrates your commitment to playing your part in raising safety within the sector. Part of being a Champion is about spreading the word – encouraging others to adopt the standard and ultimately improving safety standards for us all. In the last five years alone, 28,000 people have been killed or injured by construction vehicles in the UK – and with construction set to soar this year, there will undoubtably be more construction vehicles on our roads. Now more than ever before, it’s critical that those involved in these sectors adhere to the highest safety standards.

Why is CLOCS needed?

Department for Transport statistics highlight the real need for action. They report an incident with construction vehicles occurs every 90 minutes, with many of those resulting in casualties, or life-changing injuries. By working together to ensure the safest construction vehicle journeys through implementing CLOCS Standard, as a sector we can help to change those shocking statistics.

Through investment in a membership, you’ll be supported by the CLOCS team and will have access to tools and resources and discounted training places, among many other benefits.

How will being a CLOCS member benefit you?

When CLOCS Standard is implemented, local authorities have reported 47% fewer collisions and 37% fewer complaints. From promoting a culture of safety from the top down, compliant organisations have a proven track record in delivering real, long-term and sustainable results.

Working with FORS

A number of schemes aim to revolutionise the management of work-related road risk and promote a positive road safety culture. It is important that these schemes work together to maintain a level of consistency across the industry. The Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) is an international accreditation scheme designed to help road fleet operators in all sectors improve, measure and monitor safety, environmental and operational performance. The schemes have been aligned so that the requirements described as Silver in the FORS Standard also meet compliance with the CLOCS Standard.
