Motormax is Proud to Support Construction Logistics and Community Safety (CLOCS)

We’re delighted to announce that Motormax has become a Construction Logistics and Community Safety (CLOCS) Champion. CLOCS, a national standard, aims to ensure the safest construction vehicle journeys inspiring commitment and responsibility towards increased safety standards in all their members.

What is Construction Logistics and Community Safety? (CLOCS)

CLOCS was formed back in 2013 after a growing need for construction and fleet sectors to work together to address shared safety issues. CLOCS Standard brings together best practice from a number of standards, policies and codes to provide one overarching industry standard for construction and fleet operators to implement.

What does it mean to be a CLOCS Champion?

“This new partnership further demonstrates our active commitment to raising safety standards through implementing and promoting the national CLOCS Standard. As a CLOCS Champion, we are committing to sharing clear plans to achieve CLOCS compliance within two years, spreading the word and encouraging other organisations to adopt the CLOCS Standard and advising our key supply chain partners to also become CLOCS Champions. Our safety solutions, such as Safety Max are designed to proactively impact the safety of a fleet, the welfare of drivers and the surrounding public. Our system uses critical and potentially life-saving alerts which are communicated to drivers with timely warnings for them to act. We have no doubt this system will make a significant difference to fleet operators”.

Mark Leedham – Motormax Corporate Relationship Manager.

Why is CLOCS needed?

Over 28,000 people were killed or injured in the last five years by construction vehicles in the UK. That’s an incident every 90 minutes. Construction activity across the country is set to soar in 2022, meaning there will be more HGV’s on our roads. Combine this with an increase in people taking part in active travel (walking and cycling) – and it’s clear to see that ensuring the safest construction journeys with CLOCS compliant vehicles has never been more critical.

How does CLOCS work?

CLOCS Standard is an effective way of working towards a safer industry and protecting road users from harm. When CLOCS Standard is implemented local authorities have reported 47% fewer collisions and 37% fewer complaints.

Put simply, it saves lives and money. Over 350 UK organisations have signed up to CLOCS to prove their commitment to increasing road safety – we’re proud to be one of them. We look forward to delivering real, long-term and sustainable results with our CLOCS compliant solutions.
