Kier Highways ongoing commitment to ‘best in class’ fleet safety solutions

Kier Highways, leading highways service provider continues their ongoing commitment to improving the safety of their fleet. With a significant investment in the latest technology, Kier Highways demonstrate a ‘best in class’ approach to protecting their teams and the communities in which they operate.
One of the most multifaceted systems to date, Motormax designed a bespoke safety system for Kier’s fleet of Mercedes Econics tankers. Equipment installed includes a range of cameras, alarms, sensors and lights which alert the driver to potential hazards and incidents, improve visibility and assist with manoeuvres whilst capturing footage and alerting road users.

Equipment installed includes;
- Near and offside cameras – provides drivers with visibility of vehicle sides via high quality footage.
- Forward facing camera – protect drivers against fraudulent claims by recording the road ahead.
- Rear camera – assist drivers to manoeuvre – activates when the vehicle is in reverse.
- Cab monitor – the quad screen shows all camera views when the vehicle is in standard operation.
- Offside camera – this camera view displays when the right indicator is selected.
- Nearside view – this camera view displays when the left indicator is selected.
- Perimeter lights – in lower light conditions a halo is projected around the vehicle.
- Amber strobes and LED lightbar – multi-pattern warning lights are activated when vehicle is in operation.
- Spot work lamps – improve safety and visibility via adjustable spotlights.
- Integrated controls – beacons, flood lights, nearside and offside proximity halo light controls are integrated into the dashboard.
- Alarm mute button – cab control allows quiet night operation after 11pm.
- Nearside detection – sensors alert the driver to cyclists and pedestrians and eliminate blind spots.
- Left turn alarm – when travelling under 10mph the alarm sounds to warn road users the vehicle is turning.
